Papia Das Baul založila hudební skupinu „Baul Papia & Baishnav Tantra“ v roce 2008. Skupina vedená Papiou není jen o hudbě, řídí se také baulskou filozofií sdílení lásky a pokračuje v pátrání po niterní duši skrze tělo. Baulku Papiu doprovázejí muzikanti Sebastien Dreyer na sitár a dotaru a Pavel Kaššai na tabla a dupki. Hostem na koncertě bude hudebnice a zpěvačka z Indie, Shikha Ganguly.
Papia, básnířka a baulka, skládá a píše své vlastní folkové písně dle staré baulské tradice. Papia stručně seznamuje posluchače s poetickým významem svých písní, aby byli snadněji vtaženi do mystického vlivu indického subkontinentu.
Papia Das Baul has founded the music group “Baul Papia & Baishnav Tantra” in 2008. The group led by Papia, is not just a music group but it also abides by the philosophy of the Baul tradition of sharing love and continues to go through the process of the search of the inner soul through the body. Musicians accompanying Baul Papia are Sebastien Dreyer in sitar and dotara, Pavel Kassai in tabla and dupki. Guest musician and singer from India, Shikha Ganguly will join Papia in this particular performance.
Papia Ghoshal alias Papia Das Baul was born in a village Bandel in West Bengal to an orthodox Hindu Brahmin family, originating from the royal Zamindari blood. Since her childhood Papia was in love with smell of Indian village soil, where she spent most of time by singing, dancing and chanting with mystical Sufi and Baul saints, attending local festivals and sacred places, where the sadhus – holy men often met. The cremation ghats, a sacred place for burning dead human bodies almost became her second home.
